¡Hola Fonzfam!
Last night the fog was thick as we were going around contacting people. We were swimming through it trying to make out dark figures who ended up being people who were walking their dogs. Overall the weather has been fantastic considering the fact that it's the end of January and we still haven't even had any snow in the valley. It's been a blessed time to be able to be out and about without a rain coat which means everyone's happier.
Monday night we had a planned lesson with one of the YSAs we're teaching named Eddie. We sat down with him and taught him the first half of the Plan of Salvation. There were some new things for him but he said that it all made sense. Our member who came with us shared his experience of Christ's Atonement in his life which really brought in the Spirit. Eddie is such a character and makes me laugh and we knew others in our branch would love him and so we invited him to our FHE that was right after. He thought for a second and said, "Why not?" We had a cupcake bake-off and we could tell that he had a great time getting to know the other members.
After dinner on Tuesday we said a prayer before leaving our apartment as always and asked for someone to be placed in our path that night. As we were walking over to our car we OYMed this YSA guy named Leyva who was very energentic. He had to get going but we were able to quickly establish our purpose and asked if we could meet up again soon. He was all for it and asked if Thursday was good for us. We were like, Yeah! We had a good discussion with him and he even came to church this Sunday! We're so pumped to see him progress because we know he was placed right infront of us for a reason.
We had another sweet miracle that was by the Spirit. We just pulled into this complex and said our normal prayer on where the Lord needed us to go and Elder Anderson said that he felt like we needed to knock a door in the 60s. So we went to the 60s and knock 3 different doors that we hadn't hit yet, but with no response from anyone. Then we knocked door 62 and met Jeremiah. I actually met him a couple months ago with Elder Hadfield but nothing really came from it...until today. We ended up talking with him for a solid 40 minutes and invited him to church and everything and he said that he was down to come!!! Even though he had to rain-check us about church, he's still down to meet and come next week. We knew that that door was truly inspired. God places us where we need to be when we need to be there.
As part of "Come Follow Me" this last week we learned about how Jesus Christ is the Light that came into the world to light each of us. In one of the sections of this week's study we're invited to share our witness of Christ. Jesus Christ truly has been at the center of everything I've done while being out on my mission. Even in preparing for it I strived to live His gospel so that when I would sit across from the person I'm teaching, I could sincerely testify of the reality of our Savior. After having Elder Cook's apostolic witness of Christ a few weeks ago, I have solidified my belief in Him even more. There really isn't any way to enter into the presence of God other then by Christ. I want to end my testimony in His name, our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Have a great week guys! I love you so much!
Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
This morning we got up early to hike to 'Frustration Falls' but they were all dried up so it was a real frustration haha. It was a beautiful day nonetheless |
For FHE last week we had a cupcake bake-off with Eddie. These are some of the cupcakes that ended up winning;) |
Hitting up the windy scenery with the Tickle Creek and Estacada Elders. |
