¿Como Le Va Familia?

Every week on Tuesday we go the Rock Creek Food Pantry to help out the families in need get their food. It's super fun to get to know so many different types of people. The pantry is small but it helps out hundreds of people everyday. Sometimes a single hispanic madre will come through with her hijos and I'll head over and help her out. Usually they're really suprised when I start speaking spanish to them. But I'm able help them get what they need and load their car with their food. The pantry is run by the local Christian church, and they really appreciate the missionaries coming to help. We aren't allowed to preach though, but if someone asks, we tell.

On Friday night we made Mexican Sushi with a recent convert for Cena. Elder Clarke was our maestro and he taught us how to properly make it. I said that it was Mexican Sushi because we actually used grilled chicken and sirancha sauce, as well as crab. We ate it with chopsticks, which wasn't too bad. It tasted really good, but when I got to my sixth piece I got hung up on the seaweed paper. It turned into a mushy ball that I kept trying to swallow. Every time I tried to swallow it, I would gag. I came close to giving up all I ate, so to avoid doing that I slyly grabbed a napkin and spat out the lump. That was it for me that night, I wasn't able to eat anymore. But I was respectful to our host who actually didn't eat too much either and just laughed when she tried some and coughed it up.

This last week in personal study I studied prophets and their role in our lives. In Deuteronomy 18 I really pondered how God uses prophets to help guide us. Verse 18 says, "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." I know that God calls prophets to be mouth pieces for Him to direct His children. I look forward to this coming General Conference and the opportunity to listen to the living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and his apostles. I encourage you all to study the words of President Monson from the last conference because they may be some of the last guidance he gives. I love the leaders of our church, they provide so much inspirational material for us to study and learn from.

Happy Birthday Meghan! I hope you enjoy all you dates you have today! Have fun with your license, and be safe driving too!

I love you all so much and think about you all everyday! Enjoy this next week and count the many blessings God gives you.

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
