¡Los Translados son Divertido!

¡Hola Familia Fonnesbeck!

This last week has been so fun with all the different changes from transfers. On Monday night we got a call from the ZLs with the news of what was going to happen. Elder Clarke left to go train a brand new missionary again in a branch in the Beaverton stake. They said that I was going to stay here and follow up train Elder Moffat who had only been out for six weeks. He was originally being trained by ZLs in an English YSA ward out in Mt. Hood. His Spanish is pretty good, but his ability to understand is something I am working with him during our language study. I am so excited to have him as a companion. Both of us being relatively new provides a great opportunity to learn new things together.

On top of all the commotion of running an area and training, I didn't find out that I was also called to be a district leader until the day before transfer. At transfers I attended a new leader training where they taught us about the how the Lord chooses His leaders. By humility, diligence, and love is how one is chosen to lead. They compared the differences between being a leader of the world vs. being a leader of the Lord. I am super excited to lead and do trainings for the companionships in my district. We have a zone goal to have three baptismal dates set for each companionship by the end of November. This transfer is only five weeks or so because of Christmas so this goal, when achieved, is going to set us up for baptisms for December.

On transfer day I was sad to leave Elder Clarke. He had been such a great trainer and taught me so much. His new companion is going to have a blast with him for the next 12 weeks. At transfers I was able to see everyone I had made friends with while out here. Everyone knows who I am because most say, "I'm friends with your mom on Facebook," or "She's so nice, she's commented on all my posts." It has been a great way for me to get to know people without having to meet them in person.

Yesterday was Hillsboro Stake Conference where I got to sing in the Stake choir with the other Spanish missionaries in our ward. One of the songs we sang was "Have I Done any Good?" in Spanish. It went really well and Elder Moffat had to learn the song right before conference. The talks given were really good to. President Bullen came and shared a brief testimony of member missionary work, as well as Sister Bullen. They are both great leaders and have I have noticed how they care for each missionary individually.

I miss you guys so much and hope your Thanksgiving season is one to remember. ¡Disfruta su semana!

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
