¡Tuvimos un Bautismo!

¡Hola Fonzfam!

I got so excited when I read your email last night and got to the end and read that Paula and Sean had arrived safely. Earlier yesterday morning I had left that package out on my front door and some time later they came and picked it up. I'm glad they traveled safely with all the snow that you guys got yesterday. Thanks for sending those pics and I hope Brock enjoys those dulces.

‎This last week we had a great baptism for Brian! During the week we met with him almost everyday to make sure he knew everything for his interview. Although I feel that he didn't really even need to be taught, he knows it all very well and has such a strong testimony. There was good support from the YSA ward and other missionaries who brought their investigators to come see it. I'm excited for Brian and his decision to come closer to Christ, especially as we begin to work with him to make it to the temple.

‎This week was full of member stop-bys as we are still working on meeting everyone in the ward. There are a lot of members here but not as many coming to church so we're pretty busy with making our rounds. But the members who we've met are awesome(as you've personally seen from last night)! Our teaching pool is nothing compared to my last area but we have a couple people that we've found who are actually looking promising and we hope to set some baptismal dates with them soon.

‎The Milwaukie Zone has been an awesome place to be and I'm so grateful to be out here with all the missionaries in it. Last week we had zone conference where Elder Matheson and I did a training on getting contact info and leaving a commitment in an OYM. It was really fun and we did it separately with each of the three zones that were apart of the conference. We focussed on leaving commitments and tying that to repentance. When we look at repentance we can recognize it as a change, a change of heart. When we invite people to make commitments, we're inviting them to repent and change their ways to align themselves with Christ. In my experience as a missionary, nothing brings me more joy than when an investigator keeps their commitments and begins to change. It's incredible and that's what I live for.

‎With General Conference this weekend I'm excited for the opportunity to sustain President Russell M. Nelson as the newest prophet. I'm also anxious to see who the new apostles are going to be and am looking forward to hearing what the prophet and apostles are going to share. Something I'm going to try this conference focussing on taking notes from what I feel from the Spirit and not so much on writing quotes because I can always look at those later on lds.org. When going into conference we can also have a question(s) to focus on. Our answers will come as we pay attention to the Spirit and reflect on what was shared over the months to come.

‎Happy Easter too Fonzfam! I love and miss you and pray that you'll be blessed everyday!

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
Brian's baptism went great and we've had fun along the way
helping him learn the restored gospel.

We're just "swinging" into action as we begin our work in Milwaukie.
