¡Abril Esta Aquí!

¡Hola Fonzfam!

‎ I hope you've been able to have a fun spring break this last week! San Diego was always my favorite spring break vacation. I was wondering who sent me that temple illustration of the México City Temple by email. It's awesome to hear that it was Brock who made and sent that my way. I don't know if you remember, but back in December I was in the Visitor Center for a Christmas concert with the youth from our Spanish Ward and I used the temple display and sent you guys a colored in picture of the Hawaiian Temple.

What a blast I had on my exchange with the Assistants this last week! I went with Elder Beck to work downtown Portland for the day. We talked with dozens and dozens of people, quite a few who approached us too. There's definitely a different feeling being down there, but it was such a great experience. We walked past all the places we went by as a family almost a year ago in June like Voodoo Donuts and the "Keep Portland Weird" sign. It was a busy day but I'm glad that I don't have to work down there everyday, Milwaukie is just the perfect place to be;)

The other night we were able to have a lesson with one of our investigators, Anthony, and we were able to help him establish a daily reading schedule, which he feels he needs to do more of before he is able to be baptized. We were bold in our invitation, yet we still allowed him to feel comfortable as we set a more solid baptismal date for April 28th. As he prepares for this we'll be utilizing the help from our ward members to provide rides, friendship, and testimony.

Saturday, in the pouring rain, we had an afternoon of finding through an app called Whitepages. We had put in the address and written down all the apartment numbers with YSA aged people. Giving us some light in the dark. Honestly though, we weren't too excited because it was going to be door by door in a complex with the cold winds whipping around as well. But we had success. We were heading to the next door when I felt a strong urge to immediately turn to the right and knock a specific door on the second floor. My companion trusted me and so we knocked. A mom with two little children opened and we back our spill. We come to find out that she's Christian, she went to BYU (never looked into Mormons), and she's looking for a religion to have her kids grow up in. After getting on one knee to explain the BoM to her kids using the pictures (mostly for her because her kids were only 4 & 3), she accepted a copy and invited us back. As we got her number the Spirit confirmed to me that we were in the right place with the person who needed our message. After confirming our lesson with her we'll pass her off to the Oregon City missionaries since it's a family.

I've been counting down the days until Rosa and Eddie's baptism this upcoming Saturday! I'm trying to figure out a ride over to Tualatin, but I know it'll all work out in the end. I pray that the Spirit will be with them this whole week and that they're able to feel it and have the peace and assurance that this is Christ's church and gospel.

I hope you all have a wonderful week as you get back into the swing of things after having such a great spring break in California. I can't wait to call you again in about 5 weeks from now!

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
