¡Hola Fonzfam!
Aren't we so lucky to have a living prophet today?! President Russel M. Nelson surely is a prophet of God as he stood there at the pulpit over the last two days and declared God's word with a mighty trump. I love and sustain him and look forward to continuing to hearing his words as I continue my service.
During the week Elder Matheson and I continue to recognize the blessings that our Heavenly Father has laid out for us. One instance was when we were visiting somebody who's met with missionaries before and had a previous baptismal date. We didn't have to wait long at the door until his girlfriend(who turned out to be a member) opened it quickly and apologized that they couldn't meet right then but that we could come back later this week. We didn't have her in our records so we exchanged numbers and have been able to keep in contact and have invited them to our FHE tonight. It was raining a lot that day and we weren't having much success so that was such a tender mercy.
Unfortunately we didn't have a dinner lined up for Easter Sunday so we were going to get together with another set of elders in our zone who didn't have one either. Before we were going to meet up and make some top ramen, we had plans to visit a few people down in Oregon City. At our first stop we met this awesome convert couple of four years who let us in and asked if we had a dinner. They had already made a a ton of white chicken chilli and corn bread and didn't give us choice but to have some. They were so kind and gave us standing permission to come by if we ever needed anything. It was another tender mercy that we are so grateful for.
I have an awesome update on Rosa and her family that Elder Montague had let me know. Because of her unique situation she wasn't able to be baptized, but now after discussion with both the branch president and President Bullen, she and her son Eddie are able to be baptized! It will be on Brock's birthday, April 14th!!! They've shown their willingness to keep the commandments and their desire to continue on the path along the iron rod. I am so happy for them and hopefully will be able to attend their baptism here in a couple weeks.
I loved the intensity of the Spirit yesterday during all the sessions of conference. I'm excited for the changes announced involving the priesthood quorums and ministering. I know that as we diligently apply ourselves to the will of the Lord that together we will be able to move mountains. These changes will continue to bring many into Christ's fold and we will need more than the 7 temples announced to accompany those willing to continue the work. Have a great week and have fun during your spring break!
Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
Brian is so excited to do baptisms for the dead after
we learned more about it at the temple.
