¡Hola Fonzfam!
Happy Father's Day Dad! I hope you had an amazing day yesterday as our family and I celebrated your influence and blessing on all of our lives. I'm so grateful for you and what you've taught me that has helped me so much while being out on my mission. And Happy Birthday Birthday Brady! You're finally 12! What? My brother a deacon? Haha! I love you bud and hope you have a great day today!
This week has been incredible as Elder Matheson and I have been busy with doing a couple different companion exchanges and prepping for our zone conference. We've had some fun being with different missionaries in their areas and saw some great and almost unbelievable things happen.
During our exchange with Elder Vawdrey, we were doing a few tasks outside in a park when a nice woman came up to us. She was just being friendly and we totally thought that she was a member until we asked her. She has been going to an LDS church miles away with her hairdresser, but she would like to go to one closer to where she lives. She loves Christ and she began to cry as she bore her testimony of Him and His influence in her life. She showed us the Gospel Library app on her phone that she listens to the BoM from and it just got us more excited. Finding her address we handed her to the appropriate missionaries who will be able to help her get to baptism!
Earlier this week we got a referral from the Salem Mission of this guy named Alex who has to be the most prepared person ever! Saturday we had a lesson with him about the Gospel of Jesus and he began to teach us instead! We invited him to be baptized on July 14th, thinking that it would give him enough time to be ready, but he didn't think so. He wanted it pushed up! He asked for the soonest possible day, which is June 30th, in 2 weeks! He's been working really hard and his excitement about the gospel has lit a fire in his heart. There are people out there so ready and willing to hear the truth, even if we may not see the fruit of our labors at first, God knows how hard we're all working and He'll always provide!
One of my exchange goals this last week was to teach simpler. During my study time I went over the first 3 lessons in PMG making little notes about scriptures and principles. I was able to try things out during a couple of our lessons and I loved the result. Teaching the doctrines of the gospel simply invites the Spirit to touch the hearts of those being taught more powerfully and to the level that they can easily recognize it. This is something that I'm going to keep doing to improve my teaching skills.
Thank you for all your love and know that I miss all of you so much! Have a great week! And we're almost through 2 Nephi too! Isaiah wasn't that bad;)
Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck
In downtown Oregon City there's this sweet water fall
that has 5 tiers and it starts here at the top.
Here's a pano of the Willamette Falls, that when fully flowing
has almost the same amount of water going over it in the US.
Dinner in the middle of our zone conference with President Bullen.
