¡Me Voy, Pero No Ya Sé Donde!

¡Hola Fonzfam!
It's already halfway through July and it certainly feels like it! If you've checked out Portland's weather recently you'd see that it's been reaching 100° most of the days this last week. With the humidity it makes it a lot different than 100° in Utah. On Friday we were on the freeway and our car thermometer went up to "116°F!" Luckily both Elder Matheson and I have a few white shirts to spare so that we don't have to wear the same sweaty shirt over again like some other Elders do;) Jk haha, I hope not!

Last night we had an awesome steak dinner with the high counselor over the missionary work in the stake. Those were the thickest steaks I've ever had and they had some good moo to them. Oh so juicy! But during dinner we got the call from the Assistants about who's being transferred. There's change in almost every companionship in our zone except 2. Elder Matheson and I are going to split up after being together for the last 3 transfers. It looks like I'll be taking off somewhere else to continue my mission with a new companion in a new area. Tonightwe'll find out the details of who and where exactly.
I'm so sad to be leaving Elder Matheson. He's been an incredible companion and friend as I've grown to know him better and better each day. Each companion has taught me something different that I've taken into my own life. He's taught me how to be a patient disciple of Christ and what it means to be a diligent servant of God. From his example I feel ready to hit the hot pavement in my next area and to find, teach, and baptize with my next companion and soon to be friend. We've had a great time together and we're grateful for the success that we've had in the Alder Creek YSA.

I'm grateful to have been apart of the spiritual journey and growth of Brian, Jimmie, and Alex as they've come unto Christ by following His example. There are a couple more people that I hope to be able to come back to see be baptized in the coming weeks and months. My heart is just full of gratitude for the countless blessings that I've received while serving in the areas I have. I know each one has been the place in which God has called me to serve and I'm willing to go anywhere He tells me to go with whoever I'm assigned to serve with.
In our Book of Mormon reading this last week we read through one of the best missionary stories in the whole thing with Ammon and King Lamoni. And what I love is Ammon's example of loyalty and integrity as he serves King Lamoni with all the flocks of sheep. It would've taken incredible courage to be able to face all those lamanites in those fields to protect the flocks and the servants. Ammon's worthiness to be able to receive the power necessary to overcome his trials is something that we can look at in our lives. Are we living worthy enough to receive the eternal blessings of our covenants? Do we take advantage of the power that our Heavenly Father has endowed us with as His sons and daughters? I invite you to take a few moments a day to reflect on your commitment to God, to reflect on the things that you're doing on a day to day basis to invite the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I love you all so much and pray for your safety daily!

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck

Ammon & Tyler are the best!
They took us to an Irish Pub for some famous fish 'n chips.

ALOHA!  For our zone p-day we're having a luau in celebration of
Elder Comish & Sister Powers who are leaving for home this week;(

Here's some picture evidence of the heat we've been having over the past week!
