¡Tengo un Año Más para Servir a Dios!

¡Hola Fonzfam!

Officially one year out now, and I still feel like I've been out for only a week;) Even though we needed to be home by 10 on the fourth, we spent the evening with some awesome members along the Willamette River. As the evening got darker, the river front owners(all of which have some money to spare) lit off their stashes of fireworks. All along the river we heard the loud booms and saw the bright colors of tons of different fireworks. We were watching from a boat dock and the view was incredible. Definitely a must do when I visit the mission down the road.

We had very little time Tuesday to go out finding because of the lessons and events we had going on that day. We planned to check out this new area, so we parked our car, said a prayer, and got out on to the sidewalk. No sooner than 5 seconds later a guy came running around the corner. We were able to stop him and start talking about the gospel with him. He was a high school graduate of 2018 and he went to a little Christian church by himself. He accepted a BoM and we planned to meet up later this week to talk to him more about it. The timing couldn't have been better as he was placed right infront of us just perfectly!

We were able to go do baptisms at the temple with Alex this last Thursday for his first time. It was a beautiful day to be at the temple and they've made the grounds look so good. This was the first time I've been inside a baptistry since the night we went as a family before my endowment in Portland June 2017. While there, Alex was all smiles as he felt the Spirit of the temple. He was able to witness at the font and Elder Matheson and I were able to do confirmations for him and a few others. He's just so excited for the gospel and has a fire burning bright within.

I was able to study on the "signs of faith" as described in D&C 63:9-11. Here I learned more about how and why we receive our answers or signs after we show our faith. If it doesn't happen this way then we gain nothing as pertaining to faith. There are so many examples of those asking for signs in the Book of Mormon. But we learn that signs are not given to produce faith but to confirm faith and to bless the faithful. I haven't seen this more than in missionary work as faith is required to find, teach, and repent.

Thank you everyone who contributed to that awesome "Hump Day" album. I loved reading through all your inspiring notes and seeing your pictures with the stuffed camel. I really appreciate all the effort that went into that project:) I hope you keep safe this week and continue to give thanks to our loving Heavenly Father. We're almost halfway through the summer so enjoy the time we have!

Love you all,
Elder Fonnesbeck

Happy Fourth of July!(with Elder Tucker)

Riverside firework show was a blast!

This is a pretty popular thing to do as missionaries in the OPM,
but we had great success washing cars for those in the community:)
