¡Los Traslados Otra Vez!

¡Hola Fonzfam!

Transfers are this week and it looks like Elder Clements will be leaving after only two total transfers here. This change up was definitely unexpected, but of course we know it's the will of the Lord. This was a really fast transfer with him and I'm excited to see who will be coming in here next. In this short time we've experienced some pretty incredible things. Elder Clements has taught me patience and to takes things a little slower, one step at a time. There's always going to be that sense of urgency in the work of the Lord, but the reality is that you can't do it all at once. I'm going to miss serving side-by-side with him. I wish him luck in his new area wherever it is.

We were finally able to get a commitment to church that panned out. This guy named Ryan came to check out sacrament meeting. He's got an interesting story for another time but he's a great guy who loves what we do. He loves it so much that he's been talking us up and has been sending people our way. Seriously, we have a list of like seven people with their contact info because of him! He's heading down to help with the relief efforts in California. We're finding a good number of people still, technically no news this last week according to area book, but we're waiting on return appointments to open up for our people. The ward is doing great to fellowship and invite nonmembers. For example, yesterday a youth in our ward brought 5 non member friends to all of church!

During our weekly planning we went through our records and found a youth who was taught last year in the fall. It looked like the missionaries had just lost contact with him, so we put him on our list for the week to go out and find him. About an hour later we were contacting this family who wasn't home, but had a choice to go either left towards our car, or right to go see who was around the neighborhood. We felt prompted to go right, and from doing so we just saw a guy coming around the corner. We went up to and started talking and quickly found out his name, which is Iverson. He's going to be a senior at the local high school and just moved back from being in Idaho for almost a year. He said that he wanted to meet up with missionaries again because he has a ton of member friends and some extended family. Afterwards we couldn't believe that we just ran into the guy we needed to see. That was not only inspired, but divinely inspired and directed.

We're almost done with the Book of Mormon. Today starts Moroni and we'll finish by Wednesday. Reflecting on last week's reading, I love the account of the Brother of Jared who was described as having no need for faith after a certain point because his knowledge of Christ was so perfect which enabled him to see the Lord. Of course I am no where near that point, but it's a good goal to have for the end of this life into the next. It's apart of this journey to exercise our faith in things unseen until the veil is made thin by our alignment with the will of the Father. It gets me excited for what we have to learn in the eternities.

I'm excited for this next transfer with a new companion and a zone full of Outstanding Powerful Missionaries! I love you guys! Have a great week of school keep being great examples to all of your friends.

Love,
Elder Fonnesbeck

The temple was beautifully lit up after doing baptisms for the dead there with a couple recent converts.

Just a cool reflection of the Lord's house.

Here's a cool waterfall in one of the neighborhoods. Not quite like the Multnomah Falls;)
