¡Hola Fonzfam!
Once again we woke up to a frosty morning with everything covered in white. For me, this is so weird to see this much snow in the city. It's never a lot, but just the fact that it's snowing just reminds us that spring isn't quite here yet. With the one inch we've received, schools have been delayed until further notice and the mission president has grounded all of our cars. I had planned some fun things to do with my district but since we are spread apart we'll have to save it for another week. We'll probably just watch a church movie with the zone leaders who live close by.
This past week we faced some difficult things with having to drop a handful of people that Elder Silva and his last companion had found. This seemed to be a little hard on Silva, especially after all 5 of our lessons fell through yesterday. I shared my 2 cents on why days like that happen. I feel like it's always a humbling experience from God so that He can prepare us to graciously receive even better blessings in the near future. And we did! This got Elder Silva excited as he recognized everything that we had been blessed with that day.
Cristal and Hector are a couple we've been working with for a couple months now. We gave them a vision for their baptism and they agreed to work towards March 23rd! For some reason, though they didn't make it to church yesterday. They've been twice already and their three kids love primary. They have good fellowship in the branch and a desire to be sealed in the temple as a family. Jose Lara has a date for March 9th, but this last week he must've been going through some other things in his life because we haven't been able to meet with him since last Sunday. All we want to do is talk to him in person so we can help him with whatever he's going through. Next, we had to drop Brandon's date that was for this next Saturday because of things in his family's life is just too much for the parents right now. He's still coming to church but is going to be baptized towards the beginning of April, whether that's before Conference or after, we're waiting on his mom to decide.
Last night, after everything fell through, we planned to go by a handful of referrals that we've received over the past week. One of them is a family that the Cook Park Sisters had talked to but we hadn't caught them home yet. Last night they were home and we met the mom, Jessica. She was excited for the Spanish BoM we gave her and said that tonight would work for us to come back and share more! With what we thought were many missed opportunities, God helped open up some new doors for us to pass through.
Zone conference this last week was just what so many missionaries needed. It gave more me clarity and direction in my planning and Elder Silva caught the vision as well. I hope to be well involved with my district in helping them develop their skills in planning and executing. There is more emphasis on the quality of planning in order to more secure an individual's progression in the gospel. At times in my mission I have felt like things had been more focused on quantity over quality, but now everyone is on the same page with quality. And the best part is they didn't really teach us anything new, it's all part of Preach My Gospel, but it's the way to look at PMG that has changed. It's going to make the rest of my mission so much more effective than in the past. Yeet!
Studies have been limited this last week with all the appointments we've had throughout the day and so the time we had to study was very precious. One thing I've appreciated is the ability to go back and forth between Spanish and English text as I'm able to compare words and expand my understanding of the scriptures. One example of this is with the phrase, "endure to the end" versus "preseverar hasta el fin." They basically mean the same thing, but the connotation of "persevering" sounds a lot better to me than "enduring." This understanding helps open my own spiritual curtains even wider. If you want to give it try yourselves go ahead! It's fun to have a BoM and an LDM side by side to compare and learn new insights(Google Translate might be helpful too;) I love you guys so much and I hope you have a fun and safe week in all that you do!!!
Con Amor,

Beautiful sunrise while on our way to zone conference this past Friday.
Hanging around just having a call in with one of the Elders in my district.
This shuts the city down...can you believe it?!
